Baked Biscuit Wreath Dip
Is it just me, or are the holidays dips and appetizers something to look forward to every year? I know the holiday season is supposed to be all about the sweets, but I’m a savory person, so I always look forward to the dips.
This spinach dip is nothing short of fantastic. It’s decadent, but not too heavy, and it’s just delicious.
I’ve partnered up with Klarbrunn to bring you what may be the best Christmas Eve appetizer of all time. This savory dip with an easy and fun festive dipper that’s built right in will make the perfect complement to your holiday celebrations. I love pairing the classic flavors of this dish with Klarbrunn’s Lemon Sparkling Water. You can find out where to buy Klarbrunn here.
Fresh Spinach vs. Frozen Spinach
I really don’t think there’s any need to use fresh spinach for this recipe. Plus, frozen spinach is so affordable and easy to use. I love it for recipes like this one. There is one caveat though. Frozen spinach has a tendency to take on the flavor of the ingredients it’s stored with. If you can, try to use a newer pack of it.
Biscuit Dough
To keep this recipe super easy (hello busy holiday season), I opted to use store bought biscuit dough.
If you prefer to go the homemade route, that would be delicious, too! Just be sure to not make your biscuit balls too big if you use homemade dough.
The store bought biscuits I used were pretty small to begin with, and then I cut them in half. Depending on how large you normally make your biscuits, I’d either cut them in half or even into quarters.
Cheesy Spinach Dip
There are four kinds of cheese in this recipe, and oh my gosh, the flavor is heavenly!
I know that’s kind of a lot though. To keep the cost down, you can use fewer cheeses if you like.
You can omit the parmesan (just replace the amount of parmesan with additional mozzarella), and you can choose between using ricotta and cream cheese (replace the amount of the one you left out with the one you chose to use).
Depending on the size of your skillet, you may have a little bit of dip leftover. You can just heat that up in a different oven safe dish at the same time and serve it with crackers.
You can even make the dip ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. Just pull it out 30 minutes before you’re going to pop it into the oven with the biscuits. I would only recommend prepping the dip in advance though, I think the biscuits are best prepared right before serving.

Ingredients
Spinach Dip:
- 5 ounces frozen chopped spinach (thawed, half of a 10 ounce package, roughly 150 grams)
- 1 ½ cups freshly grated mozzarella
- ½ cup freshly finely grated parmesan
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened, ½ block)
- ½ cup ricotta
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 medium cloves garlic (very finely diced)
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
Biscuit Wreath:
- 1 can refrigerated biscuits
- 1/2 Tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
- 2 Tablespoons freshly grated mozzarella
- 2 Tablespoons freshly finely grated parmesan
Instructions
Spinach Dip:
- Mix spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, cream cheese, ricotta, mayonnaise, garlic, and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
Biscuit Wreath:
- Preheat the oven to 350 F (176 C).
- Open the tube of biscuits and cut each biscuit in half. Take each piece and pinch the edges together in the center, then roll to make a ball.
- Place each biscuit ball seam side down around the edge of a medium sized oven safe skillet.
- Brush the biscuit balls with olive oil, then sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan.
- Spoon the spinach dip into the center of the skillet, and gently press down so that it’s roughly the same height as the biscuit balls.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the dip is hot and bubbly. You may need to rotate the skillet halfway through baking so that the biscuits brown evenly.
- Serve hot.
