These turkey sliders are the perfect easy sheet pan appetizer for a crowd! They are truly the best, so easy and simple, and theyโ€™re packed with so much delicious flavor. Everyone is sure to want seconds of this family favorite recipe!

Turkey Sliders

These turkey and cheese sliders are truly the best! Theyโ€™re coated in an easy and delicious buttery glaze that has a hint of sweetness from the brown sugar, a bit of zip from the mustard, and tons of flavor from the everything bagel seasoning. All those flavors pair perfectly with the turkey – both sliced oven roasted deli turkey and leftover Thanksgiving turkey taste great here!

The rolls absorb the flavors from the butter glaze as the sliders bake, which helps the rolls stay soft on the inside and get an amazing, crisp, golden-brown, crunchy crust that contrasts the layers of meat and cheese perfectly.

These sliders are super simple, super quick, and super tasty. Plus, you can easily half, double, or triple this recipe to serve as many or as few people as you like for pretty much any occasion. As much as I love making them as a holiday or a game day appetizer, they also make the best after school snack!

Ingredients

Butter: Butter adds a rich flavor to these sliders. It also helps them stay moist while baking while giving the rolls a beautiful golden-brown texture.

Slider Rolls: Either slider rolls or Hawaiian rolls will work here. Theyโ€™re both soft and the perfect size to make these delicious bite-sized sandwiches.

Turkey: Turkey is a flavorful protein that pairs really well with the other flavors in this dish. You can use leftover shredded Thanksgiving turkey or thinly sliced turkey breast from the deli section.

Provolone Cheese: When the cheese slices melt, they help hold the sliders together. I prefer the flavor of provolone here, but any of your favorite cheeses will work. Cheddar, mozzarella, muenster, or even brie would all be delicious here.

Dijon Mustard: Since Dijon is a bit tangy, it helps cut through and balance out the richness of the butter in the sauce.

Everything Bagel Seasoning: This simple seasoning adds such incredible flavor from the onion, garlic, salt, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds.

Brown Sugar: The sweetness in the brown sugar perfectly balances out the rich and savory flavors in this recipe.

Alternative Ingredients

  • Seasoning and Spreads: For even more flavor, you can season the turkey with your favorite spices and herbs. You can also smear a thin layer of mayonnaise or cranberry sauce on the bread before assembling the sliders.
  • Cheese: Even though I love provolone in this recipe, pretty much any cheese will work here, so feel free to pick your favorite!
  • Add-Ins: Try adding in cooked slices of bacon for a smoky, salty flavor, thin jalapeno slices for some heat, or caramelized onions for a delicious, sweet flavor.

How To Make Turkey Sliders

Prep the Rolls: Brush a baking sheet with melted butter, and cut the slider rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves on the baking sheet, cut side up. (See the recipe card below for the full printable instructions.)

Cutting the Hawaiian buns in half, and then placing the bottom rolls on a greased pan.

Layer the Filling: Add a layer of turkey slices on the bottom buns, followed by provolone cheese. Repeat with another layer of turkey.

Spreading the turkey slices on the rolls, and then adding a layer of provolone cheese.

Place the top halves of the buns over the filling and press down slightly.

Covering the buns with provolone and turkey, and then covering with the tops of the buns.

Make the Butter Topping: In a small bowl, mix the remaining melted butter with Dijon mustard, everything bagel seasoning, and brown sugar.

Mixing melted butter, sugar, dijon mustard, and everything bagel seasoning in a small mixing bowl.

Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.

Brushing the glaze to the top of the buns, and then baking in a preheated oven.

Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake until the tops are golden brown, the cheese is melted, and the bottoms are crispy.

Pro Tips

  • Dipping Sauce: If you want to really next level these sliders, try serving them with a dipping sauce, like ranch or honey mustard.
  • Make a Double Batch: This recipe multiplies beautifully. Feel free to double, triple, or quadruple it for large gatherings.

What’s the Difference Between a Slider and a Sandwich?

Sliders are essentially mini sandwiches that are typically served warm. Both sliders and sandwiches are traditionally made with some combination of meat, cheese, toppings, and condiments. Sliders are often served as an appetizer because theyโ€™re an easy-to-eat finger food, filling, and simple to make.

Why Are My Sliders Soggy?

Sliders typically get soggy from one of three issues. First, they may have too much butter or sauce. Second, the fillings themselves may be too wet. Third, if you prepare them too far in advance the bread may absorb too much moisture from the sauces and fillings and get soggy.

How Do You Keep Sliders Warm for a Potluck?

I normally just wrap them in aluminum foil to trap the heat in. If thereโ€™s going to be a significant amount of time between when you prepare them and when theyโ€™ll be eaten, you could also prepare them in advance and then bake them once you get to your destination. Some people also like to keep sliders warm in slow cookers on the โ€œwarmโ€ setting.

How Do You Serve Sliders at a Party?

Sliders are traditionally served buffet style at a party. That means you can serve them in the baking dish alongside a sturdy spatula for people to serve themselves a portion.

Do Sliders Reheat Well?

Yes! They reheat very well. Just be sure to reheat them at a lower temperature in the oven (around 300F) so that they donโ€™t dry out. It also helps to cover the baking sheet in aluminum foil to trap moisture in.

Storing Leftovers

Let the sliders cool completely, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

What to Serve with Turkey Sliders

In addition to dipping sauces like honey mustard or this spicy ranch recipe, I like serving sliders alongside easy snack and potluck foods. Some of my favorites are potato chips, french fries, coleslaw, pickles, olives, or Caesar salad with the easiest homemade Caesar dressing.
